Local Boy Scout, Connor Ewing, from Troop 69 in Celina earns a honorable metion.  Connor and his friends stepped in this summer while attending band camp in Ada, Ohio to help an elderly couple save two of their dogs from being attacked from a much larger dog, a pit bull.  The couple tried to fight off the dog, but were having difficulty in doing so.  The five teens stepped in and saved at least one of the dogs from being brutually killed, the other dog escaped and hid.  Before the Shawnee-Celina football game, Police Chief Michael Harnishfeger and Ada Mayor David Retterer presented the five teens with an award for their part in making Ada a safer community.  Ada is home to the Wilson Sporting Goods, where each NFL football is made.  The Ada community gave each of the teens a SAFER Award (Seeking Aid From Every Resident).  They also received a football with the SAFER logo and an NFL football with their name on it.  Because of Connor and his friends (Josh, Gabriella, Daycie and Marie) they have made Ada a safer place.

Thank you Connor and his friends for stepping in and being a hero!  The world needs more youth like yourself.
