As Scouting America transitions to a new February renewal cycle, there are several important changes that will impact both unit charter renewals and member renewals over the next two years. Please take a few minutes to review the information below so your unit can be prepared for a successful renewal season.

Important Unit Renewal Dates/Information

  • Unit Renewal opens November 1, 2026.
  • Units must submit their renewal no later than December 1, 2026, to ensure no errors.
  • Units that do not complete renewal by December 30, 2026, and individuals who allow their memberships to expire, will be subject to the new 2027 registration fees.
  • As part of this transition, units renewing this fall will complete a one-time 14-month renewal to move all unit renewal dates to February beginning in 2028. To accomplish this, units will pay a prorated unit renewal fee of $8.50 per month to extend their charter through February 2028, aligning with the new national renewal schedule. For example, units that traditionally renew in December will pay $119 for their unit registration fee during this renewal cycle (14 months × $8.50 per month). At this time the individual member and adult volunteers that renew in December will remain on the 12-month cycle, which will change at the next renewal cycle.
  • Unit Key 3 Member Log on to my.Scouting.org, navigate to Organization Manager>Unit Renewal
  • Safeguarding Youth Reminder: Please ensure all adult leaders have current Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT). Keeping SYT current is a key part of Scouting America's commitment to safeguarding youth and is required for adult registration and unit renewal.  Don’t let this become a barrier to your unit’s renewal.

Renewals Must Be Completed on Time

With the elimination of the lapse period, members who do not renew by their expiration date will immediately expire and lose access to Scouting systems, training records, and other online tools until their membership is renewed.

Council Wide Roundtable/Unit Renewal Workshops Scheduled

To help units successfully complete their 2027 renewals, the Council Commissioner Team will be hosting three Unit Renewal Workshops this fall. These workshops are designed to provide guidance on both unit charter renewal and individual membership renewals.

Workshop Dates:

  • November 10 – 7:00pm Purple Door Church, 1100 N. Main St., Celina
  • November 11 - 7:00pm Findlay Service Center, 2100 Broad Ave, Findlay
  • November 12 – 7:00pm St. John Lutheran Church, 655 Wayne Ave, Defiance

Unit Key 3 members, committee members, and renewal coordinators are encouraged to attend. Experienced commissioners and council volunteers will be available to answer questions, walk units through the renewal process, and provide one-on-one assistance as needed.

We encourage every unit to send a representative to one of these workshops to ensure a smooth and successful renewal season.
