Dominic Adkins recently was named one of 12 local Jefferson Award winners as a result of an outstanding Eagle Scout project. Dominic led an effort to expand the Veteran's Memorial Park in Venedocia in Allen County, combining his efforts with community member John Lloyd. The inspiration behind this effort was when local Mr. Lloyd wanted to build a memorial to honor local service men and women. "The neat part is this Mr. John Lloyd, whose dream it was to see this memorial park in Venedocia, lived to see this happen," said Linda Meyer, who nominated Adkins for the award. "Dominic persevered. He lives the Boy Scout Oath! ..." |

Dominic worked with the local veterans to acquire a cannon used in World War II and he constructed a cement pad for the cannon to sit and placed war memorial on the pad to honor those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Currently, there are 11 area businesses starting their Exploring Posts. These current Posts are for high school aged youth and they include: Crown Equipment, Marathon Engineering, Findlay Airport Aviation, Doty Dental, Seneca County Agricultural Post, Marathon Information Technology, Neil Armstrong Aviation and Hancock County Sheriff's Office.
