We apologize for any inconvenience. Distribution list update: this Kernel Journal is being emailed to unit kernels, unit Key 3, district & council level volunteers.
Full list of dates in Kernel Guidebook and Popcorn calendar webpage [here]
Units may begin returning full cases of popcorn products. Please follow these updated guidelines to ensure a smooth and efficient return process:
Units should consider transfers with others to fill partial cases
Units with partial cases should consider contacting other units in effort to make unit-to-unit transfers and fill partial cases for opportunity at returning full cases before the Tuesday, Nov. 4, deadline. See the list of unit kernels for potential collaborations attached to the Oct. 30 email of Kernel Journal.
We’re committed to improving customer service and supporting unit success. While some limitations still apply, the council is working to offer greater flexibility in handling excess product returns.
What’s Change is being considered?
Previously, returns were limited to full cases of the same product on three designated dates during the sale. Now, we’re moving forward with consideration of accepting individual containers—even if they’re part of open or partial cases—based on council's final order needs, which will determine if council can accept individual product containers.
Key Dates & Actions for Unit Kernels
Why This Matters
If your unit is struggling with excess inventory—even if it’s not in full cases—please reach out. Without knowing your inventory status, the council cannot effectively support your sale efforts.

PREVIOUS NEWS
If you have a photo or two of your Scouts selling popcorn, please email them to Jim Mason. There is a goal to use these photos to help promote the sale and share the hard work of the kids in our community.
As a reminder, making payments to council are essential in business operations. As a non-profit agency, payments of these funds are needed for operations and expenses related directly to the popcorn sale.
The second unit payment date is Nov. 1. Full details on Page 19 of the Unit Kernel Guidebook.
HERE ARE SOME RECENT QUESTIONS:
Q: I'm having troubles submitting prizes for my Scouts, what do I do?
A: It's come to council's attention that not all units have option to submit prizes orders at this time. Once this issue is resolved, it will be noted in the popcorn newsletter.
Please contact your district kernel or staff advisor Jim Mason directly if you have questions. Do not call the office with popcorn sale inquiries.
