2017 Fall Boy Scout Camporee - Oct. 13-15

We welcome you and your Troop to join us at the 2017 Allen-Hardin-Putnam County Fall Camporee. This event is Oct. 13-15, 2017 at Camp Berry, 11716 CR 40, Findlay OH 45840

Theme:

This event is designed to offer a simply, fun weekend with enjoyable Scouting activities.

Cost:

  • $10 per Scout/Webelos II’s
  •   $5 per adult

The Event:

Friday night, Oct. 13 we will be tent camping with registration starting at 6 p.m. 

  • 6-8:00 PM    Check-in at Howard Lodge
  • 10:00 PM      Scoutmaster/SPL meeting at Howard Lodge
  • 11:00 PM      Lights Out

Key items:

  • CHECK-IN - Friday, 6-8 p.m; Saturday, 7-8 a.m., at Howard Lodge
    • Each unit is expected to have a completed unit roster with name of those attending and copies of medical forms for those attending.
  • Opening: Saturday, 8:30 a.m., all Troops are asked to be in place for the opening flag ceremony
  • Meals will be handled by each troop except Saturday group dinner.
  • GROUP DINNER SATURDAY
    • SOUP COOKOFF: Meals handed by each Troop except Saturday dinner, where everyone is asked to make enough soup (of your choice) for your Troop along with Dutch oven desserts. Hot dogs and buns will be donated.
    • Everyone asked to bring mess kit to sample all the different soups and desserts. If Troop is providing its members with bowls, please bring small bowls, so when sampling, servings are not more than individual can eat. Individuals are permitted to return multiple times per soup/dessert.
  • Token Trading - Council Ring, Saturday evening after 6:45 p.m.
    • Each Troop is asked to create a unique token that meets all aspects of the Scout Oath & Law.
    • Create as many as you like or want to trade to others at the camporee.
    • Purpose is to urge Scouts and leaders to interact with each other.
    • Items could include: paracord made items; trading/playing cards; handmade items; etc.
    • This group trading activity is intendent to have each Scout go home with a remembrance of the event. There is not a patch for this event.
  • 2nd year Webelos are welcome to attend providing they register with a Troop, and have adult leader/leadership. 
  • Howard Lodge will serve as home base for camporee & check-in.
  • Service project will be a group effort with all Troops. Please come prepared with proper clothing, clothes, basic brush clearing equipment to help improve Camp Berry. Clearing/cleaning up a trail is expected project.
  • Group/camp-wide games (parade & activity fields), includes, corn hole, ultimate, t-ball home run derby, capture the flag.
  • Campfire: Troops asked to perform skit or song.
  • Medications are the responsibility of each unit.
  • CHECK OUT - Sunday, 7-9 a.m., at Howard Lodge
    • Each unit cleans up its camp site, then finalize with checkout at Howard Lodge and pickup copies of unit’s medical forms.

Registration: 

  1. To register go to, www.BlackSwampBSA.org
  2. Then click on CALENDAR, go to OCTOBER 2017, and click on “Great Oaks Fall Camporee” on Oct. 13-15.
  3. On the GO Fall Camporee event page, click on REGISTER button to begin your registration.
    1. You will be asked to enter your unit’s leader contact name, phone number and email
    2. Then you will be asked the number of youth & number of adults attending.
    3. Finally, make payment and your group is registered.
  • Units are asked to register online and pay all fees prior to Wednesday, Oct. 11, 11:30 p.m.
    • Troop must be registered by the Wednesday deadline.
  • Campsites will be assigned at check-in. Troops can expect to share a campsite with another Troop.
