Color your DE's hair - raise support for Great Oaks Scouting

Welcome to May Mayhem!

Currently, there are a lot of scary and unclear things that are in our world right now. "My purpose for May Mayhem is to share fun and positivity for the community at this time to show that Scouting is still alive and well, even if that means agreeing to dye my hair the color of your choosing," said Sydni Winkler, Great Oaks DE.

Because of the stay at home orders, the Black Swamp Area Council’s operating budget has been impacted by canceling events, programs and family presentations that we typically rely on throughout the year.

By having a challenge of raising $10,000 gives people the opportunity to give to local Scouts who families may be impacted during this global pandemic. Be sure to check the district web page and social media pages for weekly mini challenges and make your executive do silly things throughout the month.

With a stay at home order in place and with many events canceling, the Arrowwood and Great Oaks District Executive have decided to put our heads together and create May Mayhem. During the next 24 days, we have a goal to see who can get to most support to $10,000! All of the money pledged and donated will be staying here to support the local scouters. If either district get to $10,000 that District Executive will have to dye hair a color of your choosing.

Mini Challenges 

• May 7 to 10– Most participants in the kickoff campaign (led by District committee). The “Loser” committee sings a camp song and posts 
• May 11 to 18 – Most money raised in one week. The “Winner” DE posts picture of pet in uniform
• May 19 to 25 – district that is closest to the $10,000. The “Loser” DE does a TikTok dance and posts
• May 25 – Most donations on Memorial Day. The “Loser” posts head to toe picture in complete Red, White, and Blue
• Hit Final Goal of raising $10,000 gets to vote on the color to dye hair
• *Bonus* District that raises the most money DE wears Swampy at Fall Family Fun Day
