Extraordinary Explorers

During these challenging times, a ray of positivity could make the difference in someone’s day. Today’s publication is about Bryson Dick and how the Exploring program is enabling him to investigate both a career in aviation and engineering.

City of Findlay Aviation Post 615

Currently a sophomore at Lima Senior High School, Bryson joined the Exploring program in 2018, hoping to gain a bit of knowledge and understanding in both aviation and engineering. “The program has helped me tremendously in understanding different fields of aeronautics and engineering. The aeronautics program has shown me the many different career options to choose from.”

The meeting topics gave Bryson a great look at all aspects of the field, “We toured the Bowling Green flight school, went to see multiple F-16s takeoff at the Air Force Reserves in Toledo, and saw Life Flight take off in Bluffton.”

All these activities are great for understanding the aviation field, but Bryson’s most memorable moment was his first flight with Post Advisor Bruce Ziegler. “My most memorable moment was getting the chance to fly for the first time, we flew from the Findlay Airport to Lima, and then back.”

In 2019, Bryson wanted to focus on his engineering interests, and the Crown Equipment Corporation’s Engineering program was the perfect opportunity. Bryson continues to be involved in both programs. “If you are interested in any of the careers the program provides, I highly suggest going to the meetings. These meetings allow for the youth to gain experience and to network with the adults in the program.”

“The adult volunteers are truly amazing; they are open for any questions that you might have. I would recommend these programs to all other youth.”
